About the Role

Key responsibilities include conducting routine inspections of food, water, and sanitation facilities; enforcing health and safety regulations; maintaining detailed records and reports; delivering community outreach and education; responding to public health complaints and disease outbreaks; and supporting influenza vaccination campaigns. The technician also collaborates with stakeholders, issues corrective actions, and remains on call for emergencies. • Conduct routine inspections of food facilities, drinking water programs, gyms, barber/beauty shops, storage areas, MREs, ablution units, and chemical latrines following SOPs. • Enforce health and safety laws and regulations. • Prepare and maintain inspection records; gather evidence and recommend corrective actions. • Update and maintain various files, compile data, and prepare required reports. • Present community outreach programs and educate at‑risk populations about services. • Respond to public health complaints, collaborate with stakeholders, and issue memoranda of record. • Assist with influenza vaccination outreach and campaign activities. • Respond to communicable disease and foodborne illness outbreaks; apply epidemiological methods and provide recommendations. • Refer issues beyond scope to supervisor and track resolution to completion. • Address specific public health concerns and educate relevant stakeholders. • Record and maintain patient information per standard protocols and the Privacy Act. • Identify and document signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions. • Exercise initiative, judgment, problem‑solving, and decision‑making; prioritize workload independently. • Be available for on‑call duties, responding promptly to emergencies and providing care as necessary. • Complete ServSafe Instructor and Proctor courses/exams (or equivalent) before deployment. • Sign and adhere to the International Assignment Agreement (IAA).

What You Bring

Candidates must have completed an accredited public health program, associate degree, or equivalent U.S. Military technical training, with a bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred. At least one year of food‑service inspection experience, knowledge of federal food‑safety laws, and relevant certifications such as ServSafe Instructor, Basic Life Support, and optionally Registered Sanitarian are required. Strong communication, computer proficiency, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to adapt to shifting work requirements are essential. The role requires confirmation of medical and dental fitness per Acuity Medical Readiness guidelines, the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods, and travel by air to Kwajalein. A valid U.S. driver’s license, passport, and English proficiency are mandatory, as is a favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation. • Complete an accredited public health program, associate degree, or U.S. Military technical training (e.g., 4E0X1, 68R, 68S, HM‑8432). • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Administration or related field (preferred). • At least one year of experience inspecting food and drink establishments with knowledge of federal food‑safety laws. • Registered Sanitarian (RS) credential (preferred). • Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; AHA certification preferred. • Demonstrate knowledge of sanitation practices, proper food preparation, safe handling, and ability to recognize abnormalities. • Experience performing quality control or laboratory tests in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar industries. • Ability to multitask, be detail‑oriented, organized, and possess excellent verbal and communication skills. • Proficient with computers, MS Office products, and common office equipment. • Strong problem‑solving skills to research and resolve inquiries promptly. • Minimum six months of recent direct patient care experience within the last 12 months. • Valid U.S. driver’s license. • Valid U.S. passport with at least six months remaining before expiration. • Proficiency in spoken and written English. • Favorably adjudicated CNACI investigation required.
