About the Role

The responsibilities include interpreting client contracts, reviewing project set‑up documents and budgets, maintaining project data in the accounting system, processing subconsultant invoices, preparing monthly invoice packets, posting invoices to accounts receivable, and conducting work‑in‑process and closeout analyses. The accountant also supports audits, mentors staff, collaborates with IT to improve system functionality, and assists in testing new software. • Interpret client contracts for accurate project setup and compliance • Review project documents, budgets, and revisions against guidelines • Enter and maintain project data, budgets, WBS, client updates, and billing details • Assist with subconsultant invoice processing and coordinate payment releases • Prepare monthly draft and final invoice packets for clients • Post final invoices to accounts receivable, adjust as needed, and archive • Conduct in‑depth Work‑in‑Process and Project Analysis • Perform Project Closeout Analysis and support internal and external audits • Train and mentor project accounting staff • Partner with IT to test, maintain, and improve accounting system functionality • Support research and testing of new software implementations

The role involves ownership of complex project accounting functions ensuring financial accuracy, client compliance, and timely invoicing across diverse projects. It requires strong analytical skills and collaboration with technical, administrative, and financial teams. Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or an Associate’s degree with additional experience) and have at least two years of project accounting experience, preferably in professional services. Required skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, advanced invoicing, and familiarity with project accounting software such as BST or Deltek, along with strong communication and organizational abilities. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (or related) with 2+ years relevant experience, or Associate’s degree with 4+ years • 2+ years project accounting experience, preferably in professional services • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat • Ability to prepare advanced invoices using Project Accounting Systems, Excel, and client portals • Working knowledge of BST or Deltek project accounting software • Strong written, verbal, and organizational communication skills • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and time management
