About the Role

As the UK MOD Enterprise Lead, the incumbent will spearhead strategic business development, forge key relationships within the MOD, pre‑position AECOM for major pursuits, and lead capture management while acting as the Senior Client Account Manager across all UK MOD accounts. Leadership duties include setting and implementing account strategies, ensuring effective collaboration with internal stakeholders such as business units, commercial teams, and marketing, and building relationships with global defence partners, including the US DoD. Sales and growth responsibilities involve shaping the regional defence growth strategy, driving business development and winning strategic contracts, managing the sales pipeline, coordinating capture teams, and collaborating with marketing on targeted campaigns. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts and set business strategies, objectives, and financial targets. • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, global defence partners, and MOD counterparts. • Develop and execute regional defence growth and business development strategy in collaboration with leadership and operating units. • Drive acquisition of strategic pursuits, manage the sales pipeline, and lead capture teams through Go/No Go decisions. • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams for major pursuits and advise on long‑term MOD opportunity planning. • Partner with Marketing to create strategic campaigns positioning AECOM for key defence opportunities.

What You Bring

The Business Development – Account Director role focuses on expanding AECOM’s presence with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD). Reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, the position requires an active or attainable UK Security Clearance and involves regular travel to London and other UK offices. The ideal candidate is an outstanding leader with senior‑level UK MOD experience, strong strategic acumen, and excellent customer engagement skills. Required experience includes senior roles in infrastructure advisory or comparable consulting, deep knowledge of UK defence frameworks, a proven record of securing $5‑20 million contracts, and a robust network within the MOD and OEM community. • Demonstrate senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or professional services selling to the defence sector. • Possess in‑depth knowledge of UK MOD structures, frameworks, and major OEM suppliers. • Proven track record of securing $5M‑$20M consulting contracts and navigating MOD CCS/MCF frameworks. • Established network within UK MOD and defence security community; capable of senior stakeholder engagement. • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and emotional intelligence to lead cross‑functional teams.
