About the Role

In this role you will work independently on transmission design tasks, including CADD design, development of design drawings and documents, PLS‑CADD modeling and analysis, material list preparation, and field reviews for simple to moderately complex projects. You will prepare plan and profile drawings, structural and foundation details, and other engineering drawings, perform calculations, reports, and designs to support engineers, and communicate regularly with Project Managers and Project Engineers while adhering to client standards. • Perform independent transmission design tasks, including CADD drafting and PLS‑CADD modeling. • Develop design drawings (plan/profile, structural, foundation) and associated documentation. • Prepare material lists, conduct field reviews, and generate calculations and reports. • Ensure designs comply with client standards and exercise judgment on moderate‑complexity projects. • Communicate project updates with Project Managers and Project Engineers. • Lead technical efforts and collaborate closely with engineering staff.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include an associate or technical school degree (or equivalent experience), 2+ years developing CADD layouts/designs, proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation or Inroads, and the ability to learn PLS‑CADD software. Candidates should be able to act as a lead technician, work closely with engineering staff, and demonstrate strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills. Required qualifications are a high‑school diploma or equivalent, experience with Microsoft Office products, a general background related to the role, and a commitment to actively participate in our employee‑owned culture. • Hold an associate/technical degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years of CADD layout/design work. • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, MicroStation or Inroads; able to learn PLS‑CADD. • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills. • Possess a high‑school diploma or equivalent and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture.
