About the Role

In this position the manager will work closely with business‑unit market leaders to execute positioning strategies, cultivate relationships with targeted customers, design professionals, and partner companies, and actively source project opportunities through networking, research, and industry engagement. They will lead lead‑generation efforts, analyze market trends, and coordinate introductory meetings with prospective clients, while also handling additional assigned duties. • Partner with business unit market leaders to implement positioning strategies. • Network with and develop relationships with targeted customers, design professionals, and partner companies. • Research project opportunities through networking, cold calls, publications, community events, and industry organizations. • Identify and generate leads. • Analyze market trends and coordinate introductory meetings with prospective customers. • Track and manage a wide range of leads with focus on follow‑through and closure. • Offer no‑cost mental health tools and concierge resources. • Provide tuition reimbursement and adoption assistance.

What You Bring

Mortenson seeks an experienced Senior Business Development Manager who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, demonstrating flexibility, resourcefulness, proactivity, and efficiency while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. The manager will collaborate with project teams to deliver high‑quality work with initiative, productivity, and a positive attitude. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as construction management, engineering, marketing, or business, and possess at least seven years of business development experience within the construction or engineering sector. The ideal applicant demonstrates strong knowledge of the construction market, proven lead management capabilities, teamwork and leadership abilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, and related web applications. A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 10% are required. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field. • Possess at least seven years of business development experience in construction or engineering. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of the construction market and basic understanding of construction law. • Maintain a current driver’s license and be able to travel up to 10% of the time. • Exhibit strong teamwork, initiative, communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills. • Show detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks. • Proficient at an intermediate level with Microsoft Office, Project, and relevant web applications. • Provide a positive, professional attitude with strong customer service skills.
