About the Role
The database administrator collaborates with cross‑functional teams to keep the data platform reliable, secure, and aligned with the company’s strategic goals. This role involves close interaction with business units to support new functionality and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards. Operational and maintenance activities are performed in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. • Ensure databases are up and running. • Maintain performance within acceptable parameters for application functionality. • Provide authorized user access while keeping systems compliant with PJM and regulatory standards. • Keep databases on the latest secure software versions as defined by PJM and vendors. • Work with business units to implement new functionality requiring database support. • Deliver data persistence solutions aligned with business needs. • Perform timely operation and maintenance activities to keep databases operational and compliant. • For senior DBAs: recommend and implement improvements to PJM’s database environment. • Contribute to database technology architecture and strategy execution. • Lead onboarding of new database technologies and architectural approaches.

What You Bring
• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; 2‑5 years of database administration or power‑user experience; Linux/Unix familiarity; detail‑oriented work product delivery. • Preferred: MBA, MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; software development background; experience with Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB; Azure Data Factory, Data Bricks, Data Lake, Azure SQL; PL/SQL development. • Experience with installation, configuration, patching, migration, and administration of major database platforms. • Experience supporting PJM operations, markets, and planning functions.
