About the Role
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for developing and implementing cost‑effective transportation and distribution strategies for finished and unfinished products. This role secures transport availability, coordinates dispatch operations, maintains rate databases, and works closely with carriers, sales, and customers to ensure timely deliveries and identify efficiencies. The specialist also supports emergency transportation, contributes to business development projects, and participates in safety and cost‑saving initiatives. • Secures transportation availability for all logistical needs. • Supports transportation functions during emergency situations. • Follows standardized processes while performing dispatch duties for assigned locations. • Works with logistics team members to coordinate asset sharing and identify efficiencies. • Maintain rate databases and assist sales with quotes. • Develops working relationships with current and new carriers; understands and identifies advantages by engaging carrier strengths. • Reviews third party performance and carrier sourcing. • Facilitates communication between sales, customers and carriers as needed for successful, timely deliveries. • Participates in business development and special projects. • Contributes to company transportation decisions; exploits cost-savings opportunities for transportation and logistics. • Participates and contributes to company safety program.
