About the Role

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for passive fire protection works, including fire stopping, coatings, doors and compartmentation systems. • Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documents to calculate material and labour costs. • Develop competitive pricing strategies while maintaining profitability. • Ensure estimates comply with fire safety regulations, building codes and industry standards. • Stay updated on the latest passive fire protection products, materials and best practices. • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to secure optimal pricing and specifications. • Collaborate with project managers, site teams and clients to refine estimates and scope of work. • Provide technical advice and solutions on fire protection systems to clients. • Attend pre‑tender and post‑tender meetings as required. • Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations and tender submissions. • Prepare detailed cost reports and breakdowns for management review. • Identify cost‑saving opportunities and efficiencies within project budgets.

What You Bring

An Estimator role is available within Galliford Try's Oak Fire Protection Business, covering locations in Romford, Uxbridge, Leicester and Solihull. You will join a team delivering passive fire protection solutions for major construction projects. • Experience estimating in passive fire protection or a related construction sector (essential). • Knowledge of fire safety regulations, building codes and standards such as BS 476, EN 1366 and ASFP guidelines. • Ability to read construction drawings, specifications and tender documents. • Strong analytical, numerical and attention‑to‑detail skills. • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Excel or specialist tools). • Relevant qualification in construction, fire protection or quantity surveying (desirable). • Flexible, resilient and capable of influencing and building relationships with stakeholders. • Demonstrates high ethical standards, openness and honesty.
