About the Role
The role is based in the Lower South team, where Downer tackles projects of any size to world‑class standards. You will ensure all plant machinery is presented, serviced, maintained and operated safely, efficiently and in compliance with legislation, regulation and policy while meeting productivity and quality targets. • Hands‑on support for the team

Successful candidates must complete a pre‑employment drug test, medical examination and Ministry of Justice check, with support available if needed. • Class 5 New Zealand driver’s licence • Experience operating road rangers • Wheels, Tracks & Rollers (WTR) operation • Experience transporting, loading and unloading machinery • Confident reversing of trucks • Willingness to travel across the South Island, up to two weeks away from home • Ability to work long hours (60–70 hrs/week) during peak season • Strong teamwork capability • Flexibility to adapt to various surfacing crews • Experience in the civil construction industry (desirable)
