About the Role

The HVAC Controls Lead Systems Specialist acts as the on‑site project leader, planning, executing, and completing projects safely and cost‑effectively while managing hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, commissioning, and project closeout. This role is accountable for project financial results—costs, billing, and collections—maintains customer satisfaction, pursues change orders, communicates with clients throughout all phases, ensures warranty execution, and directs subcontractors, installers, technicians, and designers in compliance with legal and safety standards. Responsibilities include completing hardware design and software programming, providing detailed design communication, evaluating contractual scope changes, managing material selection, ordering, budgeting, and vendor pricing, overseeing subcontractor payments, and coordinating panel and device locations to meet Johnson Controls standards. The specialist loads, verifies, and commissions system controllers, validates full system functionality, resolves issues, produces accurate as‑built and commissioning documentation, and ensures timely project billing and profitability through best business practices. Coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance are provided to system technicians, electrical installers, and designers, while delegated tasks are tracked for accuracy, timeliness, budget, and scope; project status and monthly revenue forecasts are communicated to management. The role also prepares warranty letters, develops project plans, conducts owner/operator training, supplies operation manuals, cultivates long‑term relationships with contractors and clients, attends progress meetings, and collaborates with Project Engineers to deliver cost‑efficient solutions. What You Bring

Candidates need an Associate’s degree or equivalent experience, at least two years of field experience with building automation systems design and commissioning, relevant licenses or certifications, strong independent work ability, solid PC skills, and preferably knowledge of project accounting and costing. • Required: Associate’s degree (or equivalent) + 2+ years BAS design/commissioning experience, relevant licenses/certifications, strong PC skills; preferred knowledge of project accounting.
