Associate Practice Area Director - Healthcare Design

About the Role
In this senior role you will lead the pursuit, win, and execution of healthcare projects—including inpatient hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, behavioral health facilities, and medical office buildings. You will manage the regional healthcare team, develop business plans, target pursuits, and oversee organizational structures and processes, reporting to regional and practice area leadership. The Associate Practice Area Director will expand existing staff, coordinate all regional healthcare activities, maintain client satisfaction, generate new revenue, and deepen relationships with owners, architects, PM/CM firms, and general contractors while tracking leads and forecasting pipelines. • Stay abreast of regional and national market trends and keep the team at the technical forefront. • Develop internal networks to share staffing and project pursuit information across the global team. • Ensure technical excellence of project delivery and provide expert issue resolution. • Develop, review, and coordinate the regional practice area business plan with the global Healthcare plan and other practice areas. • Coordinate goals with the global team to execute the business plan. • Create strategies to penetrate new clients, increase national sales, and secure higher‑margin work. • Oversee project financials and interoffice/client reporting structures. • Achieve revenue generation goals of $1 million to $3 million annually (average over two years). • Articulate the firm’s value proposition to differentiate in the market. • Lead or support sales presentations focused on integrated services. • Act as an active leader and problem‑solver to deliver exceptional projects. • Write articles, white papers, and speak at industry conferences and events. • Recruit senior staff with market‑specific experience and provide leadership to new direct reports.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience), 12+ years of design experience (including at least five years in consulting or an A/E firm), five or more years of management and business‑development experience, thorough knowledge of MEP systems, and a PE registration. Strong leadership, communication, relationship‑building skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment are essential. • Demonstrate knowledge of Design/Build proposals and contracts. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience). • 12+ years of design experience, preferably ≥5 years in consulting engineering or an A/E firm. • Minimum of 5 years of management experience. • 5+ years of experience developing business for engineering. • Thorough knowledge of MEP systems. • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required. • Effective team player capable of working independently or collaboratively. • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
