About the Role

The engineer will work with cross‑functional teams of engineers, planners, and other disciplines to develop technical designs, specifications, and cost estimates for traction power and OCS systems. Duties include staying current with engineering practices, supporting business development and proposals, adhering to WSP’s quality process, and assisting with contract negotiations, client meetings, and ethical decision‑making. • Design and specify traction power and OCS systems for multiple Northeast Corridor rail projects. • Develop cost estimates and ensure compliance with industry standards and specifications. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support business development, and contribute to proposal preparation. • Assist with contract negotiations, client presentations, and quality assurance deliverables. • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of traction power and OCS engineering techniques.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or a closely related field) and have at least five years of post‑degree experience in planning, designing, procuring, installing, testing, commissioning, and cutting over traction power and OCS systems for Amtrak or comparable Northeast Corridor railroads. Strong written and interpersonal communication, critical document review, problem‑solving abilities, a solid safety record, immediate U.S. work authorization, and flexibility for travel and schedule changes are required. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Master’s preferred) with 5+ years of relevant experience. • Proven expertise in planning, design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning of traction power/OCS systems. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Strong critical thinking, problem‑solving, and document‑review capabilities. • Immediate U.S. work authorization, safety compliance, and flexibility for travel and schedule changes.
