About the Role
Key responsibilities include design, calculations and proposals, surveys and reporting, client and team coordination, and project management, all delivered in collaboration with remote project‑delivery teams. • Prepare design packages for various RIBA stages (drawings, specifications, reports, hydraulic calculations). • Create fire suppression system solutions for multiple applications at all stages of design. • Perform calculations including sprinkler water supplies and gaseous agent quantities. • Support the remote project‑delivery teams. • Conduct technical reviews and assist in solving design issues. • Perform field investigations or inspections. • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, authorities, contractors and other stakeholders. • Support project manager on projects of varying scale, delivery and technical assurance.

What You Bring
AECOM is currently seeking a Senior Fire Protection Engineer specializing in fire‑fighting systems design to be based in St. Albans, London, Manchester or Croydon. This consultancy‑based position requires experience in fire protection design and a client‑focused engineering environment. The role involves designing, calculating and proposing fire safety solutions on projects of varying size, acting as a key point of contact, undertaking surveys, producing reports, and supporting day‑to‑day project management for secured programmes. Minimum requirements include strong written and verbal communication skills, strong quantitative and analytical abilities, a relevant engineering degree or professional qualification, experience in consultancy or related industries, knowledge of British and international standards and building regulations, experience with fire suppression systems, and proficiency in software such as Word, Excel, CAD, Revit and hydraulic tools. Qualifications include evidence of continued professional development, a BEng or MEng (or working towards it), and Engineering Council registration (CEng/IEng) or progress towards it. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Strong quantitative and analytical abilities. • Relevant engineering degree or professional qualification. • Experience in consultancy or related industries. • Knowledge of British & International standards and Building Regulations. • Experience with fire suppression systems (sprinklers, water mist, gaseous suppression, risers, hydrants, hose reels, hypoxic systems). • Software proficiency (Word, Excel, CAD, Revit, hydraulic tools). • Evidence of CPD and professional development. • BEng, MEng or working towards it. • Engineering Council registration (CEng/IEng) or working towards it.
