About the Role
In this role the General Manager will lead the construction and project‑management organization, establish processes that drive on‑time, on‑budget, and safe project delivery, and oversee resource allocation and performance monitoring across the market. • Lead all Outside Plant construction operations and manage market P&L. • Provide leadership and guidance to construction and project‑management teams. • Develop and implement processes to deliver projects on budget, safely, and on schedule. • Oversee supervisors, managers, and project managers to ensure design compliance. • Resolve construction disputes through negotiation and coordination. • Coordinate with support and back‑office staff for compliance and financial reporting. • Prepare weekly revenue and cost reports and manage material, equipment, and production costs. • Prioritize projects based on customer needs and resource availability. • Evaluate employee performance, assign jobs, retain talent, and develop team skills. • Interface with customers, vendors, and subcontractors to identify growth opportunities. • Drive safety culture and monitor SSO, MVI, TRIR, and DART metrics.

What You Bring
MasTec Communications Group builds for the future and is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead operations across the greater Knoxville market in East Tennessee. The role oversees all Outside Plant construction activities—including underground, aerial, and splicing work—in the Telco, CATV, and FTTH environment, and is accountable for market P&L performance while providing leadership to managers and shop personnel. Candidates must bring at least five years of progressive telecom‑construction leadership, a hands‑on problem‑solving attitude, a daily commitment to safety, and the ability to coach and develop teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, basic accounting knowledge, and the aptitude to learn custom software are also required. • Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in telecom construction. • Strong problem‑solving and hands‑on approach with daily safety focus. • Ability to coach, mentor, and drive change within the team. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and capable of learning custom software. • Basic understanding of accounting principles.
