Transportation Hydraulics Design Coordinator/EIT
Assist in hydraulic and drainage design for transportation projects using BIM/CAD tools.

About the Role
The Transportation Hydraulics EIT/Coordinator will join this group, collaborating with project engineers on storm‑water master plans, floodplain analyses, and design of urban and rural roadway, highway, and transit projects across aviation, transit, freight rail, highway, local roads, and federal markets. • Apply design, engineering, and modeling techniques on transportation and water‑resource projects for municipal, state, and federal clients. • Lead small projects independently and support senior engineers on larger site studies, designs, and contract documentation. • Produce civil design drawings using BIM/CAD platforms for construction documents. • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, including drainage mapping and stormwater management modeling. • Review construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. • Prepare technical reports, memos, and cost opinions. • Support drainage design permitting and water‑quality assessments. • Calculate flood‑plain impacts and compensation. • Assist with construction‑phase implementation of infrastructure.

What You Bring
HDR expects candidates to hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, share the employee‑owner culture, and either be an EIT or obtain certification within 12 months. Strong communication skills, self‑motivation, and proficiency with MicroStation/AutoCAD (and preferably Civil 3D, StormCAD, Open Roads Designer) are required. • Obtain EIT certification within 12 months (or be hired as Coordinator pending EIT). • Proficient in MicroStation/AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D, StormCAD, Open Roads Designer. • Experience in drainage design for highway/roadway projects and related permitting. • Excellent oral and written communication abilities. • Local candidates preferred for in‑office collaboration. • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
