About the Role
You will provide overall technical direction for design efforts, coordinate activities through each phase of the project, and verify that outcomes meet the agreed scope, budget, schedule and quality criteria while fostering strong relationships with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders. • Lead and manage multi‑disciplinary design teams to deliver high‑quality technical outcomes. • Oversee planning, coordination, and integration of design activities throughout the project lifecycle. • Ensure design deliverables meet scope, cost, schedule, and quality requirements. • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. • Mentor engineering and design team members and facilitate design reviews, workshops, and coordination meetings. • Identify and manage design risks, issues, and opportunities while ensuring compliance with standards and governance. • Support bid development and proposal activities, including scope definition and design methodology input.

What You Bring
KBR’s South Australia team is expanding its Adelaide Infrastructure group and is hiring Senior Design Managers for both Defence and non‑Defence infrastructure projects. The positions are based in Australia and are open only to Australian citizens or permanent residents; relocation assistance may be offered for candidates outside South Australia. Candidates should possess a relevant bachelor’s qualification and a strong track record on complex infrastructure projects, especially within structured environments such as Defence contracts. Demonstrated leadership of cross‑functional teams, excellent communication and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required. • Hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent with extensive experience delivering complex infrastructure projects. • Proven ability to lead multi‑disciplinary engineering teams within structured frameworks such as Defence contracts or alliance projects. • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with high scope awareness. • Australian citizenship or permanent residency required; ability to obtain security clearance.
