About the Role
The UK MOD Enterprise Lead will spearhead strategic business development, build key relationships within the MOD, pre‑position AECOM for major pursuits, and manage capture efforts. The role acts as Senior Client Account Manager, coordinating with the Defence Leadership Team, other CAMs, and the UK Defence Nuclear Enterprise Lead. Leadership responsibilities include overseeing UK MOD Enterprise accounts, fostering effective internal stakeholder relationships, and establishing global defence connections. The incumbent will set account strategies, objectives, and financial outcomes. In sales and growth, the leader will shape regional defence growth strategy, prioritize pursuits, and drive business development to win strategic contracts. Responsibilities cover pipeline management, team formation for major pursuits, Go/No‑Go decision rigor, and collaboration with Marketing on targeted campaigns. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts and drive strategic relationships across internal and global stakeholders. • Define and implement account business strategies, objectives, and financial targets. • Develop regional defence growth strategy, prioritize pursuits, and set sales targets. • Lead capture management, assemble winning teams, and oversee Go/No Go decision processes. • Manage and monitor the sales pipeline, advancing or divesting opportunities as needed. • Collaborate with Marketing to create and execute targeted campaigns for key opportunities. • Secure and grow consulting contracts ranging from $5M to $20M within the UK defence sector. • Leverage extensive network with UK MOD, OEMs, and senior government stakeholders. • Provide strategic advice on long‑term, medium‑term, and short‑term MOD opportunities. • Ensure compliance with defence and security regulations and maintain required security clearances.

What You Bring
We are seeking a Business Development – Account Director for our Defence practice, a senior leader in the UK MOD and US DoD market. Reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, the role requires an active UK Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one) and involves regular travel to London and other UK offices. The ideal candidate is an outstanding leader with extensive senior‑level UK MOD experience, strong strategic thinking, customer engagement skills, and high business acumen combined with emotional intelligence. Key experience required includes senior roles in infrastructure advisory or comparable consulting, deep knowledge of the UK defence sector and its frameworks, a track record of securing $5‑20 million contracts, and a robust network with MOD stakeholders and OEMs. Demonstrated sales metrics and business development expertise are essential. • Required: senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or professional services selling to defence, deep UK MOD knowledge, proven contract wins, strong business acumen and emotional intelligence.
