About the Role

The Journeyman Electrician I installs, repairs, and maintains electrical wiring, conduit, equipment, and fixtures in both underground and above‑ground settings. Work is performed in an industrial environment, where the electrician also leads less‑skilled team members to maintain a safe work area. • Read and interpret prints, drawings, schematics, and plans. • Use hand and power tools safely, including conduit benders, screwdrivers, pliers, knives, hacksaws, wire strippers, and drills. • Maintain reliable transportation and be available to work seven days a week. • Ensure compliance with Zachry and site‑specific safety rules, including Lock‑Tag‑Try procedures. • Inspect work areas for hazards and lead Safety Task Assessment meetings. • Perform detailed inspections and testing of hand tools, power tools, and electrical equipment. • Examine blueprints and specifications to determine circuit locations and install conduit per NFPA 70 (NEC 2014). • Pull cables, install cable trays, and terminate wires to equipment such as outlets, switches, breakers, and control panels. • Install and maintain temporary power systems and equipment grounding/bonding. • Participate in the Zachry Craft Advancement Program (ZCAP) for electricians. • Apply mathematics to validate installations per NEC 2014 standards.

What You Bring

The role requires extensive physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lb, and occasional work at heights of up to 300 ft. Employees must wear required personal protective equipment and can expect to work in all weather conditions with moderate to high noise levels. • Hold a Texas DLR Journeyman or Master Electrician license, NCCER Industrial Electrician certification, or ZCAP Journeyman Electrician qualification. • Work at heights up to 300 ft and meet physical demands such as standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lb. • Demonstrate strong organization, time management, communication, and teamwork skills. • Wear required PPE, including hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, and steel‑toe boots.
