About the Role

The Roadway Group Manager will be based in Cary, NC and oversee transportation (roadway design) staff and projects for the Charlotte and Cary offices. The role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality while maintaining strong client relationships. • Establish, maintain, and monitor project schedules, budgets, and staffing. • Mentor and train engineering and consulting staff. • Develop and execute business plans for the Roadway group. • Market NV5 services to NCDOT, Charlotte DOT, municipalities, and other potential clients. • Participate in professional associations and societies. • Collaborate with the Southeast Transportation Director to achieve departmental goals. • Complete assignments as directed by the SE Transportation Director.

What You Bring

The position is primarily office‑based, requiring prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and screen work, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and the possibility of weekend, overtime, or travel. Reasonable accommodations are provided as required. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. • North Carolina PE license (or obtain within 3 months). • 15+ years of transportation engineering experience. • 5+ years of management experience or 10 years of project management experience. • 5+ years of business development experience in the transportation market. • Experience with NCDOT, local municipalities, or other state DOT projects. • Proficient in MicroStation and OpenRoads software. • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills. • Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain). • Ability to lift up to 50 lb occasionally and perform repetitive finger motions.
