About the Role

The Hoisting Superintendent 1 supervises all daily hoisting activities on a project, including asset scheduling, operator assignment, training, and coordinating assembly and disassembly crews and lift planning. The role ensures hoisting assets remain in good condition and meet inspection requirements, and may also support hoisting for other projects within an assigned area, aligning with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. This position makes non‑routine decisions, offers recommendations to supervisors, and escalates exceptions. The career path leads to Hoisting Superintendent 2 (Lift Director). Core responsibilities include pre‑planning assembly and disassembly work, determining crew size, schedule, materials, truck sequencing, and ensuring crews are trained for specific operations. The superintendent collaborates with PreCon teams on budgets, works across Project Team, BlueHat, Self‑Perform, and HES groups, and manages PTO coverage for hoisting staff. Leadership duties involve training and organizing a dedicated assembly/disassembly crew, conducting quality‑control checks on mechanics, drivers, and crew, and delivering daily Job Safety Analyses and safety briefings. The superintendent directs crane set‑up locations, ground stabilization, and works with Operations to create comprehensive hoisting plans, including crane type, size, and configuration. Additional tasks cover creating job‑specific lift plans from site visits and drawings, coordinating multiple crane movements, overseeing equipment maintenance per manufacturer specifications, reviewing complex rigging and critical lift documentation, and performing OSHA‑required operator evaluations. • Supervise daily hoisting operations, including asset scheduling and operator assignment. • Develop lift plans, determine crane set‑up locations, and specify ground stabilization needs. • Coordinate pre‑planning for assembly and disassembly, covering crew size, schedule, materials, and truck sequencing. • Lead, train, and manage the assembly/disassembly crew while performing quality‑control inspections. • Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses and safety briefings for mechanics, drivers, and crew members. • Manage project budgets and resources with PreCon teams and ensure PTO coverage for hoisting staff. • Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs to meet manufacturer specifications and documentation standards. • Review and approve complex rigging plans and critical lift documentation. • Perform OSHA‑mandated operator evaluations and maintain certification records. • Collaborate with owners, project teams, BlueHat, Self‑Perform, and HES groups on hoisting matters.

What You Bring

Required qualifications are a high school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience), a valid unrestricted driver’s license, the ability to lift 50 lb, and willingness for overnight travel and exposure to extreme conditions. Candidates need 5+ years of mobile crane assembly/disassembly, inspection, and maintenance experience and at least 3 years of supervisory experience, strong communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and advanced 3D lift‑plan software, and a focus on customer service and teamwork. • Require 5+ years of mobile crane assembly/disassembly experience and 3+ years of supervisory experience. • Hold a valid unrestricted driver’s license and be able to lift up to 50 lb; occasional overnight travel may be required. • Proficient in MS Office and advanced 3D lift‑plan software; possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
