E3 Senior electrical control design Engineer

About the Role
The engineer will be responsible for creating comprehensive control and protection designs for high‑voltage switchgear, ensuring functional integration at both bay and substation levels. Design activities include sizing calculations, interlock logic development, and preparation of interface drawings for related substation equipment. Selection of appropriate protection, control, and communication devices and the preparation of base design documentation are key tasks. The position also covers specification of AC/DC system requirements, equipment sizing, and cable scheduling, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. • Develop control and protection designs for EHV/HV/MV switchgear (GIS and AIS). • Perform CT and VT sizing and create electrical interlock logic for bay and substation levels. • Produce interface drawings for transformers, GIS, telecom and other substation equipment. • Select protection, control, and communication devices and compile base design documents. • Specify requirements and size AC/DC systems, MCBs, boards, batteries and auxiliary transformers. • Generate control cable schedules and calculate LV power cable sizes. • Ensure designs comply with external regulations and internal procedures. • Apply Hitachi Energy’s safety and integrity principles in daily work.

What You Bring
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on power systems, and at least three years of relevant experience. Proficiency with E3 or Eplan tools, familiarity with AIS/GIS equipment, and strong communication skills in English are required. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a power‑systems focus. • Minimum three years of experience in HV/EHV protection and control engineering. • At least two years of hands‑on experience with E3 or Eplan design tools. • Knowledge of AIS and GIS equipment and substation automation systems. • Proficient in spoken and written English. • Able to work full‑time on‑site in Chennai.
