About the Role
The opportunity involves providing local technical assistance for due‑diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects. Responsibilities include research, design, and concept development for transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, renewable energy, and protection and control systems across various sectors. The engineer will generate accurate documentation and ensure quality standards for design, safety, and functionality. Under general supervision, the engineer will collect, compile, and analyze data on substation components, equipment specifications, and procurement packages, while supporting IFR/IRC design reviews and compliance with IEEE/NESC and NERC regulations. Tasks include creating single‑line and wiring diagrams, grounding grid designs, equipment sizing, AC/DC panel designs, and performing electrical calculations for loads, voltage drop, and lighting circuits. The role also requires generating concise documentation, adhering to safety guidelines, completing training, and exercising ethical decision‑making. • Provide technical assistance for due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial projects. • Assist in research, design, and concept development of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, renewable energy, and protection/control systems. • Compile and analyze data on substation components and equipment specifications to develop procurement packages. • Create single‑line, three‑line, wiring diagrams, layout, grounding grid, and lightning protection designs in accordance with applicable standards. • Perform equipment sizing, AC/DC panel design, conduit and trenching strategies, and develop electrical calculations for loads, feeders, voltage drop, grounding, and lighting circuits. • Generate accurate documentation, drawings, and field logs using electronic systems. • Follow safety guidelines, site‑specific procedures, and company policies. • Complete assigned training and adhere to ethical standards and WSP’s Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 0–1 year of relevant post‑graduation experience. Candidates must demonstrate strong research and analytical abilities, a general understanding of electrical design for large capital projects, and familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and record‑keeping practices. Effective interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail, multitasking, and proficiency with technical writing, office software, and design tools such as CADD, AutoCADD, Aspen, and CAPE are essential. Preferred qualifications consist of Engineer‑in‑Training certification, prior internship experience in the relevant discipline, and active involvement in local professional engineering organizations. Flexibility to work project‑specific schedules, occasional travel, and a proven commitment to workplace safety are also valued. • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • 0–1 year of relevant post‑graduation experience. • Strong research and analytical skills. • Familiarity with electrical codes, standards (IEEE/NESC, NERC) and regulatory requirements. • Effective communication of technical concepts to engineering and non‑engineering audiences. • Detail‑oriented, capable of multitasking and prioritizing in a dynamic environment. • Proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and design tools (CADD, AutoCADD, Aspen, CAPE). • Willingness to work flexible schedules and occasional travel. • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification (preferred). • Relevant internship experience (preferred). • Active participation in professional engineering organizations (preferred).
