About the Role
The Capture Lead / Bid Director for the Water business will own and lead AECOM’s largest and most strategic bids, typically valued at £35 million or more. This role shapes winning solutions by developing capture strategies, forming partnerships, managing risk and pricing, and guiding multidisciplinary teams through all pursuit stages across regulated water, strategic resources, and climate resilience sectors. • Drive growth by positioning and capturing new business and renewals in priority water accounts. • Lead a holistic capture approach, including client listening, win strategy development, solution shaping, and post‑bid debriefs. • Build and maintain a data‑led pipeline of qualified opportunities aligned with business goals. • Develop and execute pursuit‑based marketing campaigns to strengthen client engagement and brand awareness. • Identify, select, and lead strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and consortiums to enhance competitive positioning. • Establish senior‑level relationships with water companies, regulators, and public‑sector bodies. • Own the client narrative, articulating AECOM’s value proposition and approach during pre‑procurement and procurement phases. • Set strategic commercial direction for major pursuits, including delivery models, risk appetite, pricing, and value proposition. • Provide senior challenge and assurance to ensure solutions are deliverable, differentiated, and commercially sound. • Lead bid teams, influence internal stakeholders, and align resources and partners behind priority pursuits. • Guide technical writers to produce dynamic, compliant, and persuasive content.

What You Bring
• Demonstrated experience shaping and winning major contracts within water utilities or public water sector. • Proven track record leading $35 million+ pursuit strategies across multidisciplinary, multi‑location teams. • Strong technical and delivery background with ability to translate client drivers into differentiated bid solutions. • Excellent communication and leadership skills, including facilitation of workshops with diverse stakeholder groups. • Experience with partner‑led delivery models such as alliances, joint ventures, and complex multi‑party arrangements. • Credibility operating at executive and board level with clients, partners, and senior internal leadership. • Sound commercial judgement and strategic thinking to balance risk, value, and long‑term positioning. • In‑depth knowledge of the UK water regulatory environment or national government water sector. • Experience working in matrix organisations with separate bid management and delivery functions.
