About the Role
SUMMARY Assembles rigging to lift and move equipment or material to construction project. Job requirements involve coordinating movements according to visual signals, rating information by measurable standards, working within precise limits of accuracy, interpreting flat drawings, applying shop mathematics, planning work and selecting proper tools, and comparing differences in size, shape, and form of lines and objects. • Loads, transports, unloads and assists in selecting cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks and sheaves according to load weight and size. • Attaches pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, ceilings and gin‑pole booms with bolts and clamps. • Secures loads with grappling devices (loops, wires, ropes, chains) to crane hooks. • Directs crane operators or hoisting engineers using hand signals, loudspeaker, radio or telephone to ensure safety. • Sets up braces and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches. • Assembles and disassembles cranes. • Splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings or tackle. • May direct workers hoisting machinery and equipment onto or off ships, railroads, cars or trucks. • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning of tools and equipment. • Observes all safety rules. • Coordinates hand and foot movements according to visual signals and direction, adhering to accuracy standards. • Rates information using measurable standards. • Interprets flat drawings or diagrams and visualizes them as solid objects. • Plans work and selects proper tools. • Compares and identifies differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.

What You Bring
Qualifications may require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or a related area. The candidate has knowledge of commonly‑used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field, relies on instructions and pre‑established guidelines, works under immediate supervision, and typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Physical requirements include strength for standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; climbing and balancing; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching; frequent handling and fingering, with frequency symbols explained. • Demonstrates ability to tie various knots. • Applies shop mathematics to solve problems.
