About the Role

• Responsible for all site supervision on designated golf course construction projects. • Maintain a safe, clean and organized jobsite consistent with Discovery Builders Golf standards. • Create an environment of professionalism, respect, timeliness, and accountability among the project team. • Maintain overall project schedules. • Manage self‑perform labor, outside labor, and sub‑contractors. • Perform quality control. • Request information and coordinate with the project manager. • Track material procurement to ensure schedule goals. • Ensure project completion. • Prepare punch list and turnover to ensure customer satisfaction. • Evaluate project constructability. • Provide input to the project manager for schedules and labor forecasts. • Input data into weekly project reports. • Support development initiatives to coordinate efforts with operations and sales. • Interact with clients to confirm schedule milestones and project methods. • Manage all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, fertilization, pest control, and irrigation. • Assist with operation and maintenance of all grounds, including landscape and common areas. • Work closely with other departments to ensure consistency across the project and development. • Oversee drainage, irrigation, and watering systems. • Develop and implement comprehensive turf management programs for optimal playing conditions year‑round. • Maintain the course in proper playing condition. • Supervise planting, fertilizing, and care of turf, plants, shrubs, trees, and other facilities. • Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate all department personnel. • Maintain accurate work records for all personnel. • Plan professional development and training activities for subordinates. • Conduct regular course inspections to identify improvement areas and develop action plans. • Perform daily facility security checks and ensure accurate inventory of equipment and keys. • Supervise operation of the equipment repair shop. • Maintain all grounds and course maintenance equipment. • Oversee equipment maintenance and repair to keep machinery in proper condition. • Manage the department’s annual budget, including purchasing supplies and equipment. • Collaborate with golf course management to plan and execute course improvement projects. • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, expenses, and inventory. • Keep accurate schedules and records of all maintenance completed on the course. • Ensure chemicals, petroleum, and other controlled products are used, stored, and disposed of according to regulations. • Maintain required records and strive to minimize use of chemicals and petroleum products. • Select and prepare proper fertilizers and nutrients for all flora and fauna. • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices for sustainable golf course management. • Implement and enforce a comprehensive safety program for employees, members, and guests in compliance with laws. • Prepare and revise the grounds manual. • Establish short‑ and long‑range plans for the golf course. • Keep members informed about current and future maintenance activities. • Attend turf conferences, equipment shows, workshops, and educational programs to stay current on technical and turf innovations. • Attend staff and management meetings.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in turf management, agronomy, horticulture, or related field (preferred). • 3‑5 years of golf course maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. • Strong knowledge of turfgrass species, irrigation systems, and golf course agronomy practices. • Well‑versed in all aspects of golf course construction and management of construction personnel. • Experience with budget management and resource allocation. • Valid driver's license and pesticide applicator's license (or ability to obtain). • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with potential long hours. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods. • Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English; additional languages preferred. • Physical ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, stand, walk, and move for over eight hours, and lift items up to 50 pounds.
