About the Role
In this role you will join a diverse team of engineers, scientists and modellers, providing specialised technical input for tailings management facilities, heap‑leach plants, water impoundments, waste‑rock dumps, soil mechanics, improvement methods and geosynthetic materials engineering on projects worldwide. You will also assist project managers by managing your own involvement, time, budget and quality, and you will prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and cost estimates. The position includes travel across the UK and internationally, often requiring overnight stays, to help clients solve engineering challenges and support construction of WSP designs. You will develop and maintain client relationships, represent WSP on‑site, liaise with national and international mining team networks, mentor graduate team members and contribute to business‑development proposals. You are expected to act in line with WSP’s values, adhere to the Code of Conduct, promote a ‘safety first’ culture, and ensure behaviours align with the Equality Policy at all times. • Provide technical input for tailings, heap‑leach, water impoundments, waste‑rock dump design, and geosynthetic engineering. • Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and cost estimates. • Manage project involvement, including time, budget and quality control. • Develop and maintain client relationships and represent WSP on‑site. • Liaise with national and international mining team networks. • Mentor graduate team members and support business‑development proposals. • Uphold WSP Code of Conduct, health and safety policies, and Equality Policy.

What You Bring
We are looking for a degree‑qualified civil, geotechnical or engineering geology graduate with strong soil‑mechanics expertise, knowledge of national and international design guidelines, and experience in mining‑related waste disposal facilities. You should be able to interpret and monitor results, use a variety of tools to design geotechnical structures, and have theoretical and practical project‑management and consultancy experience. Effective teamwork and a willingness to travel, including to remote environments, are essential. • Travel domestically and internationally, with overnight stays as required. • Hold a degree in civil, geotechnical engineering or engineering geology with strong soil‑mechanics background. • Knowledge of national and international design guidelines and mining waste disposal regulations. • Experience interpreting results and designing geotechnical structures for operational requirements. • Demonstrated project‑management and consultancy experience. • Ability to work effectively within a team and willingness to travel to remote locations.
