About the Role

The incumbent will manage, evaluate, and assess mechanical and electrical systems to ensure the project is delivered on time, safely, within budget, and to contract quality standards. Responsibilities include coordinating with the project team, subcontractors, and owner consultants, overseeing contract items, schedule updates, RFI processing, budget and change order management, and mentoring junior engineers. • Lead the project team, subcontractors, and owner consultants to ensure efficient systems installation. • Prepare and manage contract item lists to keep ROJ dates aligned with the project schedule. • Participate in schedule update meetings and provide current information for accurate planning. • Evaluate and manage the processing of RFIs. • Manage the budget, reviewing and negotiating change orders while monitoring subcontractor financial status. • Supervise, coach, and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers. • Co‑lead the MEP coordination process with the VDC Engineer to meet design, O&M, and quality standards. • Prepare scope‑of‑work documents assigning responsibilities for trades and temporary operations. • Partner with the MEP Superintendent to resolve mechanical/electrical conflicts within the site logistics plan. • Co‑lead turnover activities, including start‑up, testing, commissioning, and closeout. • Conduct regular walkthroughs to verify work complies with contract documents, coordination drawings, and approved submittals. • Identify difficult installation requirements early to allow proper planning and execution. • Secure all municipal and agency documentation for temporary certificates of information and system operation. • Create and implement a quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.

What You Bring

Turner is seeking a full‑time, traveling Mechanical/Electrical Engineer for a biotech project within the Advanced Technology Group. The role is based out of Charlotte, NC and requires prior biotech/pharma experience. It is a salaried exempt position classified as experienced. Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and have at least four years of relevant experience with mechanical and electrical systems, or an equivalent mix of education and training. Strong technical expertise, business acumen, communication, organization, and leadership skills are required. The position involves occasional physical tasks such as climbing stairs and ladders, handling tools, and lifting up to 50 lb. Vision requirements include close, peripheral, depth perception and focus adjustment.
