About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Advisor to join the Process Safety team at Rolls‑Royce Submarines in Derby. The role is full‑time, five days on‑site, and focuses on coordinating and implementing process‑safety arrangements to manage high‑consequence hazards and meet statutory and regulatory requirements. The advisor will provide process‑safety advice, facilitate improvement programmes, and assure compliance with process‑safety standards. They will support the business in managing COMAH risks, maintain up‑to‑date risk profiles, and lead the identification, management and assurance of critical HS&E controls, including maintenance programmes. Key responsibilities include leading process‑safety improvements, coordinating risk‑based assurance activities, and supporting HS&E governance through the accountability framework in partnership with management. The role also involves setting expectations and leading by example on the journey to zero harm. • Advise the business on process safety and manage high‑consequence hazards. • Facilitate improvement programmes and assure process‑safety compliance. • Support COMAH risk management and ensure regulatory compliance. • Maintain current risk profiles and recommend risk‑based improvement programmes. • Identify, manage, and assure HS&E critical controls, including maintenance programmes. • Lead process‑safety improvements by proposing and implementing changes. • Coordinate risk‑based assurance activities and ensure legal compliance. • Support HS&E governance and the Accountability Framework with management. • Work on‑site in Derby, full‑time, with security clearance support.

What You Bring
Successful candidates will hold HSE‑related professional certificates and be chartered or working towards chartered membership of IOSH or IEMA. They must have proven experience delivering HSE advice, applying COMAH regulations, and implementing process‑safety solutions for complex risks. Rolls‑Royce Submarines, with over 60 years of experience delivering nuclear propulsion for the UK Royal Navy, requires a Security Check clearance, which will be supported if not already held. Applicants must be UK nationals or dual nationals approved by the MoD. The position is graded NGS 7‑10, with salary dependent on skills and experience, and closes on 26 January 2026. • Hold HSE‑related professional certification and chartered (or aspiring) IOSH/IEMA membership. • Demonstrate experience providing HSE advice, risk‑based solutions, and applying COMAH regulations. • Experience applying process safety to complex HSE risks. • Eligibility limited to UK nationals or MoD‑approved dual nationals.
