About the Role

The Project Manager – Distribution oversees steam, chilled water, and hot water distribution systems, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and in full compliance with safety regulations. This role coordinates design, planning, and implementation schedules while maintaining reliable service for customers and supervising day‑to‑day operations, document control, and vendor management. The position is based in Baltimore, MD and reports to the Distribution Manager. • Ensure safe working conditions; identify, correct, or report unsafe conditions. • Plan, prioritize, and direct scheduled and unscheduled system and customer outages for maintenance and capital projects. • Verify proper maintenance of assigned customer services, non‑customer piping systems, and department equipment. • Manage document control for distribution activities, including drawings, procedures, revisions, maintenance records, and system documentation. • Use AutoCAD to interpret project drawings, update system layouts, and support maintenance and construction planning. • Maintain cost‑effective inventory control, initiate purchasing requisitions, and obtain approvals. • Schedule manpower, materials, and equipment for daily operational needs. • Prepare and maintain accurate logs, reports, procedures, drawings, and system documentation in line with company standards. • Utilize the CMMS to create, update, and close work orders, track asset performance, and support planning and compliance reporting. • Respond to emergencies, outages, or operational needs during nights, weekends, or holidays as required. • Perform manhole entries and field inspections to verify work quality, safety, and system conditions. • Work in extreme hot or cold temperatures, inclement weather, and both indoor plant and outdoor site conditions. • Perform repetitive stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, and lift up to 50 lb; work from ladders, scaffolds, high‑lifts, and confined spaces.

What You Bring

• Minimum five years of experience in utility construction. • Solid understanding of steam principles and operation of valves, pumps, expansion joints, and trap repair. • Thorough knowledge of safety precautions for overseeing manhole equipment maintenance. • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and policies. • Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering (preferred). • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. • Strong time‑management, organization, and prioritization skills in a deadline‑driven environment. • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. • Pass pre‑employment physical exam and drug screening. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record for company vehicle operation. • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety eyewear, hard hat, gloves, hearing and respiratory protection, and specialized clothing. • Tolerate dust, airborne particles, diesel, and lube oils.

Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $90‑125K plus a 15 % annual bonus target.
