About the Role

The Tooling Toolmaker on the 3rd shift (11 pm – 7 am) works in the Decorah, IA manufacturing facility, creating and reworking header and secondary tooling for fastener production. Under supervision the role reads blueprints, operates gages and toolroom equipment, builds header tooling to die prints, maintains backup tooling, and supports operators to meet quality and productivity goals. The employee follows ISO, IATF 16949 and SPC procedures, initiates tooling change requests, and adheres to safety and preventative‑maintenance practices, with overtime as needed. • Read and interpret manufacturing and tooling blueprints to produce header and secondary tooling. • Operate lathes, grinders, cut‑off saws and inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, indicators). • Build and set up header tooling to die prints with minimal supervision, meeting quality and productivity standards. • Maintain backup tooling and perform preventative‑maintenance to minimize header downtime. • Assist header operators with tooling needs to ensure parts meet specified dimensions. • Initiate tooling change requests (TCRs) and engineering changes (ECs) to improve tooling designs. • Follow ISO, IATF 16949, SPC procedures and company safety guidelines.

What You Bring

Candidates must have a high‑school diploma or GED, strong mechanical ability, basic shop and math skills, and familiarity with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001. Preferred qualifications include industrial certifications, prior header or tooling experience, and the ability to work with lathes, grinders, cut‑off saws and inspection tools such as micrometers and calipers.
