About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclable containers that can exceed 1,000 pounds. Commercial drivers handle pick‑up service for containers, residential drivers collect household waste, and roll‑off drivers load and move large open‑top containers, all requiring skilled backing maneuvers in congested or tight environments. • Operate heavy‑duty trucks with lift attachments to transport waste and recyclables. • Perform pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections and complete DVIR reports. • Follow all WM safety, OSHA, DOT, and local regulations while driving. • Communicate hazards, service interruptions, and customer requests to dispatch or operations. • Safely load, unload, and maneuver containers, including backing maneuvers in tight spaces. • Maintain route assignments, complete end‑of‑day paperwork, and assist colleagues as needed.

Participation in scheduled training, route‑efficiency improvements, and end‑of‑day documentation are also required. Required qualifications include at least one year of experience operating a vehicle that requires a CDL or equivalent military driving within the past seven years, a minimum age of 18, legal work eligibility, and a valid CDL Class A or B with an air‑brake endorsement. Preferred qualifications are a high school diploma or GED. The role involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, reaching, handling, sitting, talking, and hearing, reflecting the physical demands of the job.
