About the Role

The engineer will serve as the site technical expert, mentor apprentices, and collaborate with operations, engineering and support teams to optimize material handling equipment (MHE) projects. Responsibilities include designing, developing, implementing, and optimizing control systems, maintaining PLC/PC controllers, troubleshooting industrial networks, and managing documentation and change procedures. • Act as site technical expert in automation control systems and mentor apprentices. • Design, develop, implement and optimize PLC/PC control systems and associated software. • Maintain and troubleshoot PLC/PC controllers, industrial networks and related equipment. • Follow strict documentation and automation change management procedures. • Collaborate with operations, engineering and support teams to optimize MHE systems and deliver projects. • Monitor MHE metrics, analyze performance issues and lead troubleshooting locally and remotely. • Perform root cause analysis and drive continuous‑improvement projects for performance and cost savings. • Communicate technical issues, timelines and workarounds to leadership and stakeholders.

What You Bring

We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement automation control systems for industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment. The role focuses on improving reliability and performance of conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print‑and‑apply systems and SCADA devices, while adhering to safety‑first policies. Candidates must hold a four‑year degree (or equivalent experience), demonstrate leadership and mentorship abilities, and be proficient in CMMS, troubleshooting, and stakeholder coordination. Strong verbal and written English, problem‑solving mindset, adaptability, and willingness to work flexible shifts—including nights, weekends and holidays—are required. Preferred qualifications include at least two years of PLC programming, HMI/control network design and SCADA experience, hands‑on work with motor controls and industrial electrical systems, and fluency in RSLogix5000 Studio, FT View and related software. Experience in field service engineering, technical training, remote support, and automation system improvements is also valued.
