About the Role
Primary duties include feeding, watering, and monitoring livestock such as chickens and goats, maintaining animal housing and bedding, and assisting with health checks and minor veterinary tasks. The assistant will also handle seasonal tasks like shearing and farrowing, and engage members by providing expert insights on animal behavior while ensuring safety. Additional responsibilities involve greeting and assisting members at the farm, providing information about the ag/livestock program, helping with vegetable harvesting, washing and packing, and assisting with general maintenance and farm events. This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Austin, TX. Driftwood Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Ag and Livestock Assistant to join the Farm & Garden Department. We are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and animal-loving individual for the weekends to help support daily operations with a strong focus on animal care, Member experience, and service. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on farm work, takes initiative, and values a close-knit, community-oriented, and team-focused environment. The assistant will work primarily on weekends and will be expected to handle a variety of farm tasks. Candidates should have previous experience working with animals, preferably in a farm setting, and be friendly, respectful, and confident when interacting with people. A strong work ethic, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions are essential. Experience with sustainable farming, apiary work, organic or regenerative agriculture, veterinary technician skills, or FFA/4H participation is a plus. A positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication skills are required to serve members, guests, and team members. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to meet physical demands such as standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds, is necessary. Candidates must be fluent in English, with additional languages preferred, and capable of staying calm during busy periods. • Possess prior animal handling experience, preferably in farm care • Demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and lift up to 50 lb
