About the Role
The Pipe Fitter plans, lays out, and performs all types of pipe fitting and fabrication work according to applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. The role may also involve work in other crafts as appropriate to training and skill level, and requires taking direction from a higher‑skilled worker or foreman. • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transportation, material storage, and time. • Apply high proficiency in trade mathematics. • Inspect subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance, explain deficiencies, and take corrective action. • Identify opportunities for improvement in tasks, methods, and learn from others. • Maintain positive relationships with crew members. • Produce high‑quality work safely and productively. • Ensure availability of materials, tools, equipment, and information. • Read and interpret drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards; use trade tools and equipment. • Occasionally stoop, kneel, or bend. • Use telephone, computer, email, or electronic devices on a limited basis for communication. • Navigate confined, cluttered, and uneven work areas. • Comply with all safety standards and procedures. • Frequently use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry, or feel objects. • Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood frameworks, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. • Occasionally lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lb.

The incumbent inspects subordinates' work for accuracy and compliance, corrects deficiencies, seeks continual improvement in tasks and methods, and maintains positive working relationships with the crew. Effective verbal and written communication, producing high‑quality work safely and productively, and ensuring necessary materials, tools, equipment, and information are available are also essential. Candidates must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety, and quality standards, and proficiently use all relevant trade tools and equipment. Depending on level, a minimum of three to six plus years of industrial/commercial construction experience with deep pipefitter expertise is required, along with strong communication skills. The job description may change and may include additional duties as assigned. Physical demands include wearing required personal protective equipment, frequent reaching above shoulder height and below the waist, occasional stooping, kneeling, or bending, and limited use of telephone, computer, or electronic devices for communication. Workers must navigate confined, cluttered, and uneven areas, comply with all safety procedures, frequently use hands to handle objects, climb and balance on scaffolds, ladders, and frameworks, and occasionally lift or move objects up to 50 lb. Shifts can extend to 12 hours and involve hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions. • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Possess three to six+ years of industrial/commercial construction experience with deep pipefitter knowledge. • Wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., steel‑toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hat, vest). • Reach above shoulder height and below waist frequently. • Work up to 12‑hour shifts performing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
