About the Role

The Senior Staff Accountant will ensure accurate completion of accounting functions including audit support, financial reporting, business‑plan submissions, and payroll. This role supports division‑level financial operations and acts as a key liaison between regional and corporate finance teams. The position also provides backup support for the Land Controller and Assistant Controller as needed. • Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly division financial reports. • Serve as primary backup for the Land Controller’s accounts‑payable processes. • Match receipts, code P‑Card invoices, and post entries to the General Ledger. • Manage vendor insurance maintenance and ensure compliance. • Participate in yearly and quarterly P&L projections for the business plan. • Maintain schedules for leased trailers and off‑site office equipment. • Analyze monthly P&L statements, identify discrepancies, and escalates issues. • Review and reconcile bills from regional and corporate sources. • Facilitate monthly financial operations meetings to scrub budget variances for homes closing. • Oversee the division payroll process, ensuring accurate submissions and proper record retention. • Support internal and external audit requests to meet deadlines and accuracy standards. • Ensure adherence to internal controls, SOX regulations, and corporate policies. • Contribute to month‑end close activities and meet corporate reporting deadlines. • Complete SOP and price‑change requests as directed by finance leadership. • Compile and submit the quarterly balance‑sheet package. • Act as backup for assistant controller on warranty spending reviews, new community setup in JDE, and legal‑bill processing. • Monitor collection of energy and miscellaneous rebates.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, with a graduate degree or CPA designation considered an advantage. At least three years of general accounting experience, including P&L management, are required, and homebuilding experience is preferred. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential, and experience with JD Edwards and Hyperion/Essbase is desirable.
