About the Role
This position reports to the Area Gas Operations Manager (AGOM) and is responsible for operating and maintaining landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS). It also provides supervision and direction for Gas Technician I and II personnel as well as contractors. • Operate and maintain landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS) cost‑effectively while ensuring regulatory compliance. • Calibrate, operate, and maintain electronic data collection devices to optimize LFG collection. • Collect, validate, and manage well‑field extraction and environmental monitoring data. • Implement preventative maintenance and assume ownership of assigned GCCS. • Install, operate, troubleshoot, and monitor liquid‑management pumps and liquid levels in collection wells. • Construct and repair PVC/HDPE piping and related components of the gas collection system. • Troubleshoot GCCS and associated equipment. • Train, mentor, and evaluate Gas Technicians on GCCS operations and maintenance. • Supervise contractor activities. • Provide project‑management support for GCCS design and construction. • Contribute to LFG capital and expense budgeting. • Respond on‑call to GCCS malfunctions on‑site or by phone. • Review GCCS operating data, prepare reports, and coach technicians. • Enforce health and safety procedures and requirements.

The role may require a REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative for travel or access to federal property. • Perform well‑field monitoring, tuning adjustments, data collection, and field maintenance. • Required: High school diploma or GED. • Required: Minimum 5 years of landfill gas field or related experience. • Required: Valid, unrestricted driver’s license. • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in environmental, physical science, biology, chemistry, or related field. • Preferred: Vocational or technical training in electrical/mechanical systems, instrumentation, or environmental fieldwork. • Preferred: Knowledge of gas collection systems, pumps, blowers, and flare systems. • Preferred: Hands‑on experience with PVC/HDPE piping maintenance. • Preferred: Experience with gas blower or flare maintenance. • Preferred: Proficiency with data logging and landfill gas instrumentation tools. • Preferred: Industrial instrumentation troubleshooting and calibration skills. • Preferred: Understanding of environmental regulations governing GCCS. • Preferred: Background in regulated environmental fieldwork (landfill, industrial, etc.). • Preferred: Basic project management or estimating experience for system improvements. • Physical: Ability to lift, carry, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, handle, grasp, stand, walk, and perform repetitive motions. • Physical: Require eye/hand/foot coordination and ability to work in both office and plant/field environments using standard office equipment.
