About the Role
The Chief Engineer leads daily operations and administration of the engineering team, ensuring safe and effective operation of data‑center machinery and rapid response to tenant and Data Center Manager needs. The role also protects and enhances the value of the owner’s assets while meeting or exceeding equipment life expectations. Supervisory responsibilities include directly supervising lead operating engineers and operating engineers, handling hiring, training, performance appraisal, discipline, and problem resolution in line with JLL policies and applicable laws. • Lead engineering team to safely operate data‑center machinery and systems. • Maintain accurate time records, monitor overtime, and control labor costs. • Conduct monthly inspections of equipment and generate work orders for repairs. • Develop and enforce fire, safety, and environmental protection programs, including drills and emergency procedures. • Coordinate tenant construction projects and capital improvements with facility managers and contractors. • Implement energy‑management practices and train staff to reduce consumption. • Oversee testing, documentation, and logging of system performance and recommend operational changes. • Manage inventory, vendor relationships, and competitive bidding for MEP service contracts. • Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate lead operating engineers and operating engineers. • Ensure compliance with data‑center HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life‑safety codes.

What You Bring
Minimum requirements: a high school diploma or GED, five to seven years of engineering experience in data‑center environments (or equivalent industry experience), three to five years of supervisory experience, thorough knowledge of data‑center HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automation, and life‑safety systems, and strong communication and technical documentation skills. Preferred requirements include experience with Corrigo, MCIM/Salesforce, Zendesk, and ServiceNow, which support service ticketing, asset management, and workflow automation. Physical requirements involve frequent walking, climbing, bending, lifting at least 50 lb, using ladders up to 30 ft, and working at heights. Candidates must be able to work varied schedules, including holidays, and respond to site emergencies.
