About the Role
The role offers a broad scope, with responsibilities that include leading and coordinating systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, assessing and validating delivered materiel against technical, legislative, regulatory and compliance requirements, and managing engineering change processes through Configuration Control Boards. You will also conduct tender evaluations, review contract deliverables, and provide engineering inputs to Defence documentation, plans and government submissions, while applying deep defence experience to ensure land‑worthiness and compliance. • Lead and coordinate systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle, including drafting and reviewing statements of work, CDRLs, DIDs, DSDs and other artefacts. • Assess and validate delivered materiel against technical, legislative, regulatory and compliance requirements, exercising engineering authorities and supporting certification. • Manage engineering change processes, participate in Configuration Control Boards, review contract deliverables and provide systems engineering advice. • Conduct tender evaluations, review contract deliverables and contribute engineering inputs to Defence documentation, plans and government submissions. • Apply deep Defence experience across CASG, ODCS, capital acquisition projects and engineering governance frameworks to ensure land‑worthiness and compliance. • Perform complex systems engineering tasks, including drafting/reviewing artefacts, providing technical advice and conducting certification and compliance activities. • Evaluate materiel against legislative, regulatory and policy requirements, exercise engineering authorities and support configuration control and contract review. • Operate with limited supervision, communicate effectively with stakeholders and deliver high‑quality engineering work in a regulated Defence environment. • Maintain a minimum NV1 security clearance (or higher) and comply with ITAR requirements where applicable. • Contribute to meaningful defence projects that protect Australia’s future.

What You Bring
We are looking for a qualified engineering practitioner with a Washington Accord‑recognised Engineering Degree, recent Defence industry experience and preferably Chartered Engineer accreditation. Strong knowledge of CASG processes, the One Defence Capability System (ODCS), EMS, CMTL and Defence policy frameworks is essential, together with proven ability to perform complex systems engineering, provide technical advice and conduct certification and compliance activities. The position requires a current NV1 (or higher) security clearance and may involve compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). • Hold a Washington Accord‑recognised Engineering Degree with recent Defence industry experience; Chartered Engineer accreditation preferred. • Demonstrate strong knowledge of CASG processes, the One Defence Capability System (ODCS), EMS, CMTL and Defence engineering policy frameworks.
