About the Role
• Oversee full lifecycle of highway projects from planning to close‑out. • Engage clients, contractors, consultants and internal teams to align decisions. • Administer contracts, manage compensation events and control budgets. • Develop and maintain project schedules using Primavera P6, tracking milestones and risks. • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards. • Lead multidisciplinary teams across civil, structural, geotechnical and digital disciplines. • Apply lessons learned to improve planning, delivery and governance processes. • Utilise digital tools such as ProjectWise and BIM platforms for design data management. • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to capability building through the Highways Academy. • Implement quality assurance processes, including team selection and design verification.

What You Bring
The Roads and Highways team in Australia is expanding, and the company is looking for an experienced Technical Director – Highways Project Manager in Sydney. This role will lead iconic Australian highway projects, shaping the design‑management offering and embedding technical excellence across the transport business. The position provides leadership for civil, roads and highways delivery, covering strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, contract management and ensuring projects meet scope, budget and quality. It requires strong technical knowledge of highway design and construction and the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams through all project phases. Candidates should hold a civil engineering degree (or equivalent) and have more than ten years of experience delivering transport infrastructure for design‑build contractors, PPPs or alliances. They must be able to manage complex design interfaces, understand client and stakeholder requirements, and demonstrate strong communication, negotiation and relationship skills. • Civil engineering (or equivalent) degree. • 10+ years delivering transport infrastructure for design‑build, PPP or alliance projects. • Proven ability to manage complex design interfaces and multidisciplinary teams. • Familiarity with client/stakeholder stage‑gate processes and design maturity requirements. • Strong communication, negotiation and client relationship skills.
