About the Role

The Staff Civil Engineer works in a dynamic environment building power generation and transmission infrastructure across North America. Employed by Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group, the engineer supports large‑scale projects by providing civil site design solutions, focusing on site, access, and drainage design for energy substations and transmission lines. The role is office‑based, involving permitting, grading, stormwater analysis, survey coordination, and construction inspections, with guidance from senior engineers. The engineer will execute standard civil engineering tasks, develop construction specifications, support substation and transmission line design, perform stormwater calculations, coordinate with multi‑discipline teams, and communicate findings through reports and presentations. Site visits across North America are occasional, and work is performed under supervision of project and engineering leadership. • Apply standard civil engineering techniques to develop site, access, and drainage designs. • Create civil construction specifications and support substation and transmission line layouts. • Perform stormwater modeling, sizing culverts, ditches, and retention facilities. • Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, GIS, and construction management teams. • Prepare written reports and deliver verbal presentations to project stakeholders. • Conduct occasional site visits across North America for inspections.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, be an Engineer‑in‑Training or have FE certification, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, ability to work with moderate supervision, and a willingness to pursue PE licensure are required. Preferred experience includes 1–2 years of design work and familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. • Hold a B.S. in Civil Engineering and an EIT/FE certification; pursue PE licensure. • Demonstrate strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. • Possess 1–2 years of design experience; familiar with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or MicroStation. • Ability to lift 40 lb and navigate uneven terrain; travel up to 25 % of work year.
