About the Role
The position involves hands‑on training—including classroom and interactive computer programs—to develop the skills needed for power‑plant operations. Employees work a rotating 12‑hour schedule that includes weekends, holidays, and overtime as required. • Operate, inspect, monitor, and perform minor maintenance on boilers, turbines, auxiliary equipment, and related systems. • Conduct equipment operational checks, including startups, shutdowns, tests, and adjustments. • Respond swiftly to plant emergencies, unit upsets, and changing operating conditions. • Assist Control Specialists, Maintenance Specialists, and management as assigned. • Isolate power sources to obtain clearance for inspections, testing, or maintenance activities. • Train and direct other personnel in equipment operation and maintenance procedures. • Monitor and record operating conditions; generate trouble reports for abnormal performance.

What You Bring
Applicants must have a high‑school diploma or equivalent, pass the Edison Electric Institute MASS and POSS exams, and hold a valid driver’s license. Technical training or prior plant‑operator experience is preferred but not mandatory. The job requires the ability to lift up to 50 lb, work in inclement weather, wear required personal protective equipment, and perform tasks at heights, on scaffolds, or in confined spaces. Employees must be prepared for overtime and various shift assignments. • Complete all required Plant Specialist B training, including plant‑specific programs.
