About the Role

MiTek engineers design truss components and field repairs for customers, using calculation‑based improvements and, when needed, physical testing. The role expands existing standard details and explores innovative uses of metal‑plate‑connected wood floor and roof trusses, reporting to the Engineering Manager at the assigned office. Core responsibilities include providing calculation‑based enhancements to standard engineering details, researching and testing new metal‑plate truss methods, and creatively designing field repairs that meet engineering principles. Interns also design truss components based on customer specifications and building codes, discuss modifications with clients, assist in troubleshooting, review design‑software outputs for accuracy, and work closely with engineers, architects, and building officials. • Create positive change in the building industry and community • Build a professional network • Contribute to meaningful work alongside MiTek mentors

What You Bring

The position requires strong proficiency in algebra, trigonometry, physics, statistics, material strength, and structural analysis, combined with a focus on accuracy, active listening, technical detail, safety, and quality. Interns are expected to apply solid engineering expertise while continuously seeking process improvements. Candidates should be pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering with an expected graduation in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
