About the Role
In this role you will manage the production of outsourced design and direct the design and installation of mechanical and electrical services to meet project targets for time, cost and quality. You will lead the Mechanical and Electrical Services consultants and subcontractors through design, installation, testing and commissioning, and may progress towards a Senior M&E Manager position. You will be responsible for achieving the highest health and safety standards on site, leading the team by example and fostering a positive H&S culture, with monthly performance measurement. You will review and maintain safety and quality plans to ensure compliance with Galliford Try’s Business Management System and SHE standards, and develop construction‑phase H&S plans together with the planning supervisor and project manager. All discipline subcontractors will be required to produce detailed contract programmes and weekly returns of labour, plant and materials. You will drive a ‘Best Quality’ culture, set high workmanship standards, reject inferior work and ensure compliance with drawings, specifications and BMS quality procedures. What You Bring
Galliford Try is seeking a Building Services Manager for its Newcastle team. The successful candidate will be based in or near Newcastle and will travel across multiple site projects in the region. We are looking for candidates with a recognised Building Services qualification at HNC or degree level, and preferably experience working for a main contractor in a building services role. Full knowledge of health and safety legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM 2015), basic subcontract and commercial processes, and basic project management skills are required. • Hold a recognised Building Services qualification at HNC or degree level. • Have experience working with a main contractor in a building services role (advantageous). • Possess full knowledge of health and safety legislation (Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, CDM 2015). • Understand basic subcontract processes, contract and commercial aspects. • Demonstrate basic project management skills: programming, cash‑flow analysis, resource planning.
