About the Role
The Engineer is responsible for managing, evaluating, and assessing information required to deliver the project on schedule, within budget, and to contract‑specified quality. This position supervises Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, and Interns and reports to the Project Engineer, Project Manager, or Project Executive. Key duties include acting as the primary liaison among design and construction stakeholders, overseeing contract drawings and subcontract information, managing the project budget, and controlling submittals and change orders. The Engineer also directs the close‑out process, prepares scope of work documents, generates various project reports, and coordinates subcontractor meetings while providing supervision and performance feedback to junior staff. • Liaise with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, and owner representatives to resolve plan/specification issues. • Oversee contract drawings and subcontract information, ensuring alignment with estimates. • Manage project budget and financial performance. • Control submittals and shop drawings, verify conformance to specifications, and resolve interpretation conflicts. • Negotiate and process change orders, including analysis, subcontractor estimates, and approvals. • Lead project close‑out activities, preparing final records, warranties, as‑builts, O&M manuals, and spare parts inventories. • Supervise Assistant Engineers, Engineering Assistants, Plan Clerks, and Interns, contributing to performance appraisals. • Prepare detailed Scope of Work documents for trades. • Generate reports on general conditions, labor, safety, change orders, and quality control. • Schedule and facilitate subcontractor coordination, pre‑construction, and submittal review meetings.

What You Bring
The role is based in the Washington DC Main division with the project located in Baltimore, MD. It is a regular, salaried exempt position in the Construction job family classified as experienced. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and training. Required skills include strong written and verbal communication, proficiency with Microsoft Office, BIM and LEAN technologies, and the ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and schedules, along with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal abilities. The position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, and occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lb, with specific vision capabilities. The work environment may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, caustic chemicals, and noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud.
