Job Highlights
About the Role
The Director, Strategic & Technical Procurement is a senior enterprise leadership position that sits at the intersection of strategy, technical expertise, and business impact. The role oversees sourcing, selection, and governance of complex electrical, modular, and engineered materials that affect project performance, cost, and risk across construction, fabrication, and manufacturing operations. The director owns strategic procurement direction for assigned product categories, ensuring supply continuity, cost optimization, technical compliance, and risk mitigation to support growth and operational excellence. Partnerships with executive leadership, estimating, engineering, operations, and supply‑chain teams are essential for setting standards and driving long‑term supplier and product strategies. The position also includes responsibility for developing scalable processes, mentoring procurement talent, and integrating ESG considerations into sourcing decisions, aligning with RK’s commitment to safety, quality, and community impact. • Develop and lead enterprise‑wide strategic and technical procurement strategy for assigned categories, aligning sourcing with business objectives. • Serve as strategic owner for product, brand, and supplier strategy across all business units. • Establish procurement standards, governance frameworks, and approval thresholds for technical and strategic categories. • Provide executive‑level guidance on product and brand selection during estimating, engineering, and operational planning for complex, high‑risk projects. • Interpret specifications and ensure compliance with technical, regulatory, and operational requirements across CSI divisions (e.g., Division 26 – Electrical, Division 08 – Openings, Division 07 – Thermal and Moisture Protection, Division 23 – HVAC, Division 42 – Process Heating/Cooling/Drying). • Lead strategic supplier selection, consolidation, and long‑term partnership development. • Negotiate complex, high‑value commercial agreements and act as escalation point for supplier performance, quality, or risk issues. • Drive supplier performance management, innovation, and ESG alignment. • Partner with executive leadership, estimating, engineering, operations, finance, and project teams to align procurement strategy with project delivery and financial performance. • Influence decision‑making across multiple business units without direct authority through expertise and governance. • Accountable for cost optimization, supply continuity, quality, and risk management within assigned categories. • Define, track, and report KPIs related to spend, supplier performance, lead times, and risk exposure. • Proactively assess market conditions, capacity constraints, and geopolitical or supply‑chain risks. • Lead, mentor, and develop procurement and category‑management talent. • Build scalable processes and capabilities to support growth and increasing technical complexity.
