Engineering Specifications Consultant - Columbus, OH

About the Role

The Engineering Specifications Consultant role is based in Columbus, Ohio and supports Viega’s MEP firms, design‑build contractors and other specifiers by providing technical expertise and building relationships with engineers, architects, EPCs, contractors, builders, and government agencies. In this position the consultant collaborates with internal sales and product engineering teams to ensure Viega products are included in project and master specifications, supports regional business objectives, and delivers professional presentations to a variety of stakeholders to drive market growth. • Build and maintain long‑term relationships with MEP engineers, architects, contractors, EPCs and manufacturing accounts to secure inclusion of Viega products in specifications. • Execute account strategies aligned with corporate objectives and develop strategic plans for key accounts to exceed revenue and profitability goals. • Deliver professional presentations to engineers, architects, developers, facility engineers, plant managers, code officials and design‑build contractors. • Collaborate with external customers and internal sales, marketing and engineering teams to understand product requirements and align solutions. • Partner with cross‑functional teams to revise existing specifications and develop new ones, recommending changes to support product integration. • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders for engineering and product guide specifications. • Initiate new customer engagements, conduct regular visits, and identify opportunities to drive product demand. • Respond to leads, prospect, prioritize opportunities and provide detailed product information to contacts. • Liaise with local code officials and inspectors to obtain approvals and resolve installation questions. • Maintain accurate Salesforce records and the engineering guide specification database, and report field activity and market insights to management. • Participate in local professional societies (e.g., ASPE, ASHRAE) to promote Viega products and technologies.

What You Bring

Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial or civil engineering (or equivalent experience), 3‑5 years of industry experience, strong knowledge of codes and standards, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Travel up to 70% of the time, including in‑person support at various locations as needed. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM tools, and capable of calculating unit conversions, percentages, area and volume. • Demonstrated ability to interpret and forecast changes in customer product requirements and implement competitive practices. • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills. • Valid driver’s license required; ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Benefits

The role offers a base salary of $97,335‑$132,862, eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus, comprehensive medical, dental and vision benefits, a 401(k) with a 7.5% company match, and generous paid time off, with up to 70% travel required.
