About the Role

In this role you will manage the engineering and design components of transmission projects, develop technical execution plans, and supervise project engineers, designers, CAD technicians and support staff. You will also handle project‑management duties such as scope definition, schedule and budget control, risk mitigation, and change management, while ensuring compliance with HDR’s Quality Management System. Managing several projects simultaneously across different locations and collaborating with senior engineers to deepen technical expertise are also key responsibilities. • Lead engineering and design of high‑voltage transmission line projects. • Develop and implement technical execution plans for project scope. • Mentor and supervise project engineers, EITs, designers, CAD technicians, and administrative staff. • Perform project management duties including scope, schedule, budget, proposals, WBS, risk mitigation, change and schedule management. • Coordinate and lead QA/QC processes in accordance with HDR’s Quality Management System. • Conduct quality reviews of projects from other teams as needed. • Participate in project reviews and manage multiple concurrent projects across locations. • Collaborate with senior engineers to develop technical expertise and attend training seminars. • Assist in creating technical papers and presentations for industry conferences and events.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, a professional engineering license for the project location, and at least ten years of experience in the Power Market sector. Required skills include extensive project‑execution experience, proficiency with Microsoft Office and design tools such as PLS‑CADD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit. Preferred experience includes construction or field work on transmission projects, collaboration with renewable developers, and expertise in PLS‑CADD, steel and wood structure analysis, foundation design, and procurement. • Construction and field experience in transmission is a plus. • Experience with renewable developers and interconnection projects is advantageous. • Proficiency in PLS‑CADD, steel and wood transmission structure analysis/design, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of relevant experience. • Possess a professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) for the job location. • Extensive project execution experience within the Power Market sector. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and design software such as PLS‑CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, and Revit. • Demonstrate commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned and inclusive culture.
