About the Role

The Maintenance Technician B works under the direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to repair and maintain diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. Responsibilities include work on chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulic and electrical systems, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also involves basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. Technicians enjoy working on a single fleet of state‑of‑the‑art vehicles, receive training on new technologies, and contribute to community service. Technicians maintain a working knowledge of vehicle components and perform preventive and corrective maintenance both on‑site and on the road. Tasks include chassis repair, refuse body system service, engine maintenance, suspension, drivetrain, and HVAC work, as well as line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. When needed, they provide road service to safely return equipment to operation and use electronic diagnostic tools to pinpoint malfunctions. All required company training programs are completed and other duties are performed as assigned. • Perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic, electrical, air brake, engine, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering systems. • Conduct basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. • Provide road service to safely return equipment to operation. • Use electronic diagnostic tools to identify malfunctions. • Perform line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. • Complete required company training programs. • Maintain knowledge of vehicle components and execute preventive maintenance on‑site and on the road. • Participate in employee discount programs, 401(k) with company match, and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.

What You Bring

Applicants should have a basic understanding of work‑order labor time standards and at least one year of experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment, or be graduating from an accredited automotive college within three months. Experience with Classes 1‑5 light/medium duty and Class 7‑8 heavy‑duty trucks, aircraft, or ships is preferred. ASE certifications (T1‑T8) and a Commercial Driver’s License are advantageous but not required; a valid driver’s license is mandatory. • Hold at least 1 year of technician experience with gasoline and diesel equipment, or be graduating from an accredited automotive program. • Understand work order labor time standards; ASE certifications and a CDL are a plus. • Hold a valid driver’s license.
