Lead traffic engineering analyses, designs, and project coordination for transportation projects.

About the Role
• Lead and perform traffic engineering analyses including traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, safety studies, corridor analyses, and operational evaluations. • Develop and review designs for traffic control devices, including traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, and temporary traffic control. • Prepare and oversee the development of plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports related to traffic engineering projects. • Serve as a technical lead or task manager on traffic and transportation projects, ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards. • Apply MUTCD, AASHTO, and state/local DOT standards to develop compliant and constructible designs. • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, subconsultants, and agency stakeholders to deliver integrated project solutions. • Support client meetings, present technical findings, and respond to agency comments and review feedback. • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, supporting their technical growth and professional development. • Contribute to proposal development, scopes of work, and project planning efforts as needed.

What You Bring
What You’ll Do: This role is ideal for an experienced Traffic Engineer who brings strong technical expertise, sound professional judgment, and the ability to lead traffic engineering efforts on complex transportation projects. You will play a key role in planning, analyzing, and designing traffic solutions for public‑sector clients, while mentoring junior staff and serving as a technical resource to project teams and clients. You will balance hands‑on technical work with project leadership, contributing to studies, design deliverables, and client coordination across a wide range of traffic and transportation initiatives. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program. • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required. • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification required. • Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in traffic or transportation engineering. • Demonstrated experience preparing and leading traffic studies, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking plans, and traffic control plans. • Proficiency with traffic engineering software and tools such as Synchro, HCS, VISSIM (or similar), and design platforms including AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. • Strong working knowledge of MUTCD, state DOT standards, and applicable traffic engineering guidelines. • Proven ability to exercise sound engineering judgment and independently manage technical assignments. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting technical information to clients and agencies. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing work independently.
