About the Role
Within HDR’s Transportation Business Group, interdisciplinary teams of planners, engineers, architects, construction managers, environmental specialists, economists, and consultants collaborate to solve complex mobility challenges. Their work spans resilient highways, iconic bridges, transit, rail, aviation, ports, and marine infrastructure, driving modernized and next‑generation transportation solutions. HDR is seeking a Structures Project Manager for its Bridge program. The role involves planning, directing, and monitoring large multi‑discipline or medium‑sized transportation projects, coordinating staffing and workloads, establishing client relationships, and leading schematic design and contract document sessions on site. • Plan, direct, and monitor large or medium multi‑discipline transportation projects. • Coordinate staffing, workload, and schedule to deliver contract documents on time. • Manage client relations, marketing, and contractual design meetings. • Conduct schematic design development and contract document sessions on site. • Lead bridge/structural design projects, especially PennDOT, using MicroStation and analysis software.

What You Bring
Preferred qualifications include an MS in Structural Engineering, a PE license in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain within six months), at least ten years of bridge/structural design experience—particularly with PennDOT projects—and proficiency with MicroStation, structural analysis and bridge design software, Microsoft Office, and the LRFD Bridge Design Code. Demonstrated leadership, communication, mentoring, and business development skills are also required. Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in engineering, seven years of related experience, a minimum of two years of project management experience, and a professional engineering license for the job location. Candidates must also be proficient in MS Office and MS Project, exhibit strong leadership, and share a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture. • Hold an MS in Structural Engineering and a PE license in Pennsylvania (or obtain within 6 months). • Minimum 10 years bridge design experience; 7 years related experience; 2 years project management. • Proficient in LRFD Bridge Design Code, Microsoft Office, MS Project, and MicroStation. • Demonstrated leadership, communication, mentoring, and business development skills. • Able to handle multiple assignments and manage staff, clients, and contracts.
